This class, for children ages 4-6, is designed to give young children an edge in life by instilling a positive self-image and a “Yes I can!” attitude. This program uses a half/rank belt system in order to help the students keep progressing along the karate path to success. Our karate classes are fun and educational for kindergarten and elementary school aged children. Each week in Mini Ninjas Classes students will be challenged both physically and mentally as they are taught Respect, Courtesy, Self-confidence, Self-discipline, Focus, Concentration, Physical Fitness, Goal Setting and so much more. All of our students learn the importance of Black Belt Excellence, a metaphor for developing strong character. Many of these benefits of karate not only prove useful in the dojo, but also prove equally useful in school and beyond.
The emphasis of our Kids Martial Arts Classes, for ages 7-12, is on all the benefits of martial arts including Respect, Courtesy, Self Confidence, Physical Fitness, Goal Setting and so much more. The program builds confidence and character by providing your child with control over his or her body and an ability to stand up to peer pressure and other intimidating situations. The movements of karate develop coordination, increase strength and improve flexibility. The awarding of the higher levels of karate belts gives your child a sense of achievement and accomplishment that is tangible. Training for these evaluations and passing them enhances the students ability to concentrate, plan, and triumph over learning hurdles as they learn to set and reach their goals. This is an excellent reinforcement of study habits for school. The foundation of karate is its self-defense value. We are very careful to teach children that karate is not to be used outside the karate class in any manner other than in true self-defense. The result is a Self-Confident individual, who does not need to bully or show-off to others. Our teen and adult karate classes feature a mixture of flexibility and physical fitness exercises as well as technical martial arts training. Classes typically begin with some cardiovascular work, followed by extensive stretching, and exercises meant to strengthen the core and upper body. We then move on to the skills and curriculum for the particular belt test. The curriculum is designed to meet the pending belt requirement. Thus, if students will be testing for the next level belt then they must demonstrate the skills we expect them to have at that belt level. These skills include stances, blocks, kicks, and forms. In each class, we review the requisite skills for the particular belt test. As the belt test nears, students are asked to demonstrate the skills, so they will succeed in their belt test. The result of each class is a challenging, exhilarating workout. Come prepared to learn, sweat, and have fun.
